THE MUNICIPALITY OF SCANDIANO: ABOUT US Scandiano is the most populous municipality in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in an area that in terms of both employment and wealth generated per capita is an extremely developed and thriving economy. The Spergolonga is a annual event, a non-competitive walk through the Scandiano area combining scenic walks with local food and wine experiences. The Spergolonga revolves around the wine produced from grapes called Spergola and allows to showcase the region’s culinary excellence and natural beauty through a guided walk with a different route each year, featuring Spergola wine tastings, local gastronomy, and cultural entertainment.

WALKING ROUTE • 2 routes: the full route (18-19 km) - 4 ½ hours walk the “family” route (9 km) • difference in altitude: approx. 130 m • stages: 7 stages for the full route, 3 for the family route • times: staggered departures: 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 (groups of max. 120 people) • duration of stops for tasting: about 35′ for each stage TICKETS FOR THE SPERGOLONGA: tickets on sale online It takes place every year at the beginning of OCTOBER
The Spergolonga is targeting participants from the area: the graph above shows a prevalence of participants from the proximity of Scandiano. Participants vary between 420 and 500 every year. As the participants are divided into groups, it is preferred to stay below 500 participants in order not to create queues in the stages.
